Gómez Handcuffs Coal Miners, Death Stars Seize 2-1 Advantage in R1

The Detroit Death Stars got a strong performance from pitcher Ramón Gómez, who stymied the visiting Antioch Coal Miners en route to a 5-1 win in Game 3 of the Triple A League Championship today. The Coal Miners could never get a bead on the right-handed Gómez, who threw 7 innings of 1-hit ball to earn player of the game honors. The Death Stars now hold a 2-1 in the best-of-7 series.

Gómez was in the zone all game. He frustrated Antioch hitters while giving the Death Stars 7 innings of quality work. Gómez threw 92 pitches, allowing 1 hit and getting 6 punchouts.

"Ramón did a tremendous job," said Detroit manager Edgardo Gonzáles.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Death Star. Slated to start are Bob Tamez for the Antioch Coal Miners and Sergio Solis for the the Detroit Death Stars.
