| Triple A League Championship Game 1 Victory for Costello and Antioch | The Antioch Coal Miners started the Triple A League Championship in style today, downing the visiting Detroit Death Stars at The Coal Mine by a score of 7-1 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Coal Miners right-hander Chris Costello was named player of the game after he threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball.
Oscar Garcia chipped in for Antioch with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the first. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 RBI.
Garcia said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
