| Sabercats Lose, 9-5, at Denis Coderre Stadium | The Montreal Cardinals knocked off the Sedona Sabercats, 9-5, at Denis Coderre Stadium. Eddy Mudde, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Montreal won. The second baseman was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs. Montreal reliever Art Luffman picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Dan Fairchild absorbed the loss. Montreal is now 40-28, 2½ games up in the TMLR Otto Velez Division.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the fifth, with the game tied, Santos Rosario was at the plate when Montreal scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Cardinals to go in front, 5-3.
Rosario said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
