| Varmits Lose, 6-4, at Denis Coderre Stadium | Montreal starter Arthur Pickering pitched effectively against the Yuma Varmits at Denis Coderre Stadium. The left-hander led his team to a 6-4 win. Alex Urrutia converted his 9th save in 10 tries. The Cardinals bumped their record to 32-23 with this latest triumph.
Danny Cruz had a big run-scoring single for the Cardinals in the bottom of the second inning. With Montreal trailing 3-1 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Ryan Conroy and stroked the single to right-center. It was his 2nd hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Cardinals ahead, 3-2.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Cruz told the Montreal Daily News. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
