Ortega was 2 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Arthur Pickering got the win, improving to 5-3. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 7 hits and 5 runs, while striking out 10 and walking 3. The save was Alex Urrutia's, his 6th.
Lorenzo Zarate went 1 for 3 with a walk. He scored 2 times for Montreal. The 21-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the fifth. With no one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 5-5 tie with a run-scoring walk off Lucero Hernandez. It was his 6th walk of the season.
"I like to keep things lively in the clubhouse," said Zarate. "Believe me, it's much easier after a win."
The Cardinals bumped their record to 26-14 with this latest triumph.
