| Melendez Excels, But Cardinals Win | Julio Melendez had a good game, but he could not keep the Sedona Sabercats from falling, 6-3, to the Montreal Cardinals at Denis Coderre Stadium. The Sedona first baseman hit 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice in the loss. Tyler Eichelberger got the win, improving to 1-0. He held the Sabercats to 3 earned runs on 6 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 7 and walking 1. Wilson Luna closed it out for his 1st save.
The Cardinals got a big at-bat from center fielder Carlos Collazo. For the game, Collazo was 1-3 with a double. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 1st and 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 1st double of the season gave Montreal a 1-0 lead.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Collazo.
Montreal, at 3-0, has sizzled in the early going.
