| Grognards Turn Back Paradise Island, 2-1 | Bernard Young never let the Pirates get in a groove. The left-hander used his bread and butter, his fastball, to pitch the Grognards to a 2-1 win. St. Paul, at 3-0, has sizzled in the early going.
Had Mario Vinas not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Vinas hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Grognards.
"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Vinas.
