Strong Style Come Up Short at Long Beach

The KO had to overcome a good performance from Kyoto pitcher Devin Johnson to claim a 1-0 win at Knockout Stadium by Brooklyn Decker. Johnson went 8 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Alberto Sosa, credited with the win, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Even with the win, the KO have a dismal 23-46 record.

Joe Starke drove in one run for Long Beach. The 18-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Devin Johnson. It was his 15th RBI of the season.

"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Starke told the Long Beach Observer. "Whatever it takes."
