Commies Prevail, 3-1, Over Long Beach

The Caribbean Commies got a strong performance from pitcher Alfredo Carmona, who stymied the Long Beach offense en route to a 3-1 win at Knockout Stadium by Brooklyn Decker. Carmona, now 6-5, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing 1 earned run. The Commies bumped their record to 35-29 with this latest triumph.

Ivan Velazquez's at-bat in the top of the sixth inning was a big one for Caribbean. Coming to bat with one out, a runner on 3rd and Caribbean trailing 1-0, the shortstop reached on an error by the 2B, driving in 1 run.
