| Scorpions Need Extras to Top Bomberos | Scottsdale beat El Paso at Scottsdale Stadium, eking out a 10-9 win. The win was due in large part to left fielder Billy Goode, who earned player of the game honors. The 4th-place Scorpions raised their record to 24-39.
The Scorpions got a big at-bat from catcher Nelson Madrigal. For the game, Madrigal was 2 for 8 with 2 doubles. In the bottom of the 15th, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 12th double of the season gave Scottsdale a 10-9 lead.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Madrigal told the Scottsdale Gazette.
