| Diamonds Solve Commies, 4-2 | Tunica Diamonds starter Erik Chastain turned in a top-notch performance against the Caribbean Commies at Clam Jammer Dome. The result was a win for the Diamonds, 4-2. Chastain, now 3-4, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 9, walking 2, and allowing 2 earned runs. Even with the win, the Diamonds have a dismal 17-36 record.
A defensive lapse proved costly in the contest. In the bottom of the fifth, with Tunica trailing 1-0, Victor Mercado was at the plate when Tunica scored 2 on an error. The miscue enabled the Diamonds to go in front, 2-1.
In postgame comments to the Tunica News, Mercado said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
