Caribbean right-hander Mario Mendoza made an effective start against the Scottsdale Scorpions at Castro Field, leading his team to a 4-3 win. Johan Leedham got credit for the win, improving to 2-2. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 2 innings. The Commies now own a record of 27-25.

The Commies got a big at-bat from catcher Angel Vigil. For the game, Vigil went 2 for 5 with 2 singles. In the bottom of the tenth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a run-scoring single. His 49th hit of the season gave Caribbean a 4-3 lead.
