Scottsdale right-hander Stewart Lewis made an effective start against the Caribbean Commies at Castro Field, leading his team to a 2-0 win. In 6.1 innings, Lewis surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 0. He allowed no runs. The Scorpions now have a record of 20-31 with the win over Caribbean.

Scottsdale used the timely hitting of Billy Goode to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Scorpions on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Goode.
