| Commies Throttle Strong Style, 5-1 | Edwin Lopez never let Kyoto get something going. The Caribbean left-hander commanded his fastball in pitching the Commies to a 5-1 win. The winning pitcher was Lopez, now 1-1. He tossed 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 8. The Commies saw their win-loss record go to 23-23. At the same time, the Strong Style fell to 27-19.
Francisco Varela aided the Caribbean cause with a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the designated hitter was 1 for 3 with a home run, while scoring 2 times.
"I liked his command," said Caribbean manager Kojuro Ohayashi. "Edwin was throwing strikes."
