| Cyclones Stun Commies, 4-2 | Caribbean got a terrific performance from second baseman Alex Ponce, but it wasn't enough to beat the Brooklyn Cyclones. Brooklyn won the Castro Field contest, 4-2. Ponce was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He was 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The win was credited to Jose Gonzles in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Willie Gomez took the loss. Alfredo Jimenez recorded his 5th save for Brooklyn.
Victor Castaneda hit a 2-run double off Willie Gomez in the top of the eighth, which put the Cyclones in front, 4-2. In addition to the double, Castaneda had 1 single, while going 2 for 4.
"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Castaneda told reporters after the game.
Brooklyn has now won 3 in a row.
