| Rangers Top Diamonds Behind Mendez, 9-1 | Rockville Rangers starter Ernesto Mendez turned in a top-notch performance against the Tunica Diamonds at Brewbaker Memorial Stadium. The result was a win for the Rangers, 9-1. The Rangers, now 6-0, have hit the ground running this season.
Mendez, who has sometimes raised the ire of coaches and teammates with his famously lackadaisical work ethic, turned in a spirited effort. The hurler struck out 10 in 7.1 innings and gave up no earned runs.
Mendez moves to 1-0 on the year with 18 strikeouts.
"I had everything working," said Mendez.
