| Bettcher, Toreros Come Up Short in Bid for Road Win; Marauders Take 2-1 Series Lead | When the games really matter, the Maple Marauders put on their best show, beating the Cabo San Lucas Toreros by a final score of 6-5 today. Jeff Bettcher earned player of the game honors, as he hit 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. Maple now leads Cabo San Lucas 2-1 in the best-of-7 affair.
Late in the game, left fielder Tommy Buford had a big at-bat for Maple. In the bottom of the tenth, he hit a run-scoring single off Jay Casbeer. The play gave the Marauders a 6-5 lead.
"This team is real focused right now," said Maple manager Davey Morris.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. Slated to start are Ian Portz for the Cabo San Lucas Toreros and Norbert Philips for the the Maple Marauders.
