| League Pennant Game 1 Victory for Johnson and Kansas City | Leave it to the veteran.
The Kansas City Tornadoes got a great start from 36-year-old left-hander Tanner Johnson, who earned player of the game honors today as Kansas City won the contest 5-3 at Debris Field. Johnson threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball in the win, which allowed the Kansas City to grab a 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.
Antonio Santana chipped in for Kansas City with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"I'm glad we can make our fans happy with a win," Santana told the Kansas City Gazette.
Game 2 is set to be played tomorrow in Kansas City. Slated to start are Rodrigo Garza for Maple and J.G. Richard for Kansas City.
