| Single A League Championship Game 1 Victory for Velasco and Bel Air | The Bel Air Princes started the Single A League Championship in style today, downing the visiting Atlantic City Kings at Philip Banks Field by a score of 9-1 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Princes right-hander Dave Velasco was named player of the game after he threw 7 innings of 2-hit ball.
Velasco, who was born in San Pedro de Macorís, Dominican Republic, threw 78 pitches over 7 innings, while allowing 1 earned run.
"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Velasco said.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Philip Banks Field in Bel Air. Slated to start are Matt Merlet for Atlantic City and Kyle Robbins for Bel Air.
