| Road Win Lifts Marysville to 3-2 Lead in R1 | Game 5 was big. So was Javy Alvarado.
The Marysville starter rose to the occasion at Red Bull Stadium today, earning player of the game honors after leading the Monarchs to a crucial 6-2 victory over the Riverside Red Bulls. Alvarado threw 6 innings allowing 2 runs as the Monarchs won on the road to seize a 3-2 lead in the best-of-7 Double A League Championship.
Nick Wood aided the Marysville cause with a 2-run double in the top of the first. For the game, the catcher was 1-3 with a double and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"Huge," Wood said. "Game 5 is huge."
Game 6 is set to be played Friday, October 22nd, 2038 at Mitts Fieldhouse in Marysville. The scheduled starters for the game are Mike Tallman for Riverside and Kevin Bongarzone for Marysville.
