Monarchs, Red Bulls Play 10 to Settle Game 1, Marysville Now Leads Series 1-0

When the games really matter, the Marysville Monarchs put on their best show, beating the Riverside Red Bulls by a final score of 13-10 today. Matt Pepple earned player of the game honors, as he went 3 for 5 with 3 singles and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Marysville now leads Riverside 1-0 in the best-of-7 affair.

The Monarchs were down to their final out when catcher Tony Alburez turned a 0-1 sinker from Eddie Cory into a grand slam home run. The walk-off home run made the Mitts Fieldhouse crowd go wild.

"Exhilarating win," said Pepple.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Marysville. Slated to start are Mike Tallman for the Riverside Red Bulls and Kevin Bongarzone for the the Marysville Monarchs.
