Arenas Handcuffs Cardinals, Rangers Seize 4-2 Advantage in R2

The Rockville Rangers moved to within one game of the Round 3 today, downing the visiting Montreal Cardinals at Brewbaker Memorial Stadium by a score of 5-1. Rangers right-hander Alex Arenas was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Rangers a 4-2 advantage in the best-of-7 Winter League Championship.

Arenas, who was born in Batabanó, Cuba, threw 108 pitches over 8.1 innings, while allowing 1 earned run.
