Cardinals Hammered by Salas, Drop Game 4 to Rangers

The Rockville Rangers defeated the Montreal Cardinals, 5-1 in Game 4 of the Winter League Championship today. Earning player of the game honors was left fielder Alex Salas, who was 2-3 with a home run and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. The win moves Rockville into a 2-2 tie with Montreal in the series.

The game turned with one out in the top of the fifth when Salas hit a 2-run home run. It propelled the Rangers into the lead, 3-1.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Rockville manager Allen Oliver. "Our pregame was pretty good."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Denis Coderre Stadium in Montreal. The scheduled starters for the game are John Rudge for Rockville and Randy Johnson Jr. for Montreal.
