| Rangers Clip Cardinals 6-5 in R2 Contest | In a crucial game, the Rockville Rangers put on their best show, beating the Montreal Cardinals by a final score of 6-5 today. Juan Sandoval earned player of the game honors, as he went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. He drove in 5 runs and scored once. Rockville and Montreal are now tied at 1 wins apiece in the best-of-7 affair.
Had Leo Mora not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 3rd, Mora hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Rangers.
In comments to the Rockville Daily News, Mora admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
The next game is scheduled for Tuesday at Denis Coderre Stadium in Montreal. The scheduled starters for the game are Sergio Pichardo for Rockville and Sal Medrano for Montreal.
