| Lee Handcuffs Rangers, Cardinals Seize 1-0 Advantage in R2 | Montreal Cardinals manager Carlos Lora knew it was a gamble to give the start to a rookie. It was a good gamble to take.
Pitching in front of a hostile crowd, 22-year-old left-hander Danny Lee silenced the host Rockville Rangers at Brewbaker Memorial Stadium today. The Cardinals shut out the Rangers by a final score of 2-0, to give the Cardinals a 1-0 advantage in the best-of-7 Winter League Championship.
The Cardinals liked what they saw from Lee. The 22-year old pitcher had a commanding presence on the mound, limiting the Rangers to no earned runs on 9 hits over 8 innings, and striking out 8.
"I made some pitches when I had to," said Lee.
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow. The scheduled starters for the game are Arthur Pickering for Montreal and Willie Marmolejo for Rockville.
