Cardinals Clip Nutcrackers 2-1 in R1 Contest

The Montreal Cardinals defeated the Normal Nutcrackers, 2-1 in Game 2 of the League Championship Series today. Earning player of the game honors was starter Arthur Pickering, who threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. The win moves Montreal into a 1-1 tie with Normal in the series.

Jorge Flores aided the Montreal cause with a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh. For the game, the third baseman was 1-3.

"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Richard Lawson.

The next game is scheduled for Saturday in Montreal. Slated to start are Shane Cavanaugh for Normal and Sal Medrano for Montreal.
