| Fudge, Saints Sink Heat Again in Game 2 | Riding the 3-hit performance of first baseman Bennett Fudge, the Trois-Rivieres Saints stopped the visiting Kelowna Heat, 12-8, in Game 2 of the CBL League Championship today. Fudge went 3-4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 5 for the Saints, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 2 games to 0.
Jeff Russell hit a bases-clearing triple off Clifton Blatchford in the bottom of the first, which put the Saints in front, 4-1. In addition to the triple, Russell had 1 single and 1 walk, while going 2 for 3.
"We're not going to sweep 'em," Russell said in response to a question after the game. "Kelowna is too good not to take a game somewhere."
The next game is set to be played Sunday at Brantford College Grounds in Kelowna. Slated to start are Vernon Chute for Trois-Rivieres and Hugo Campbell for Kelowna.
