| Trois-Rivieres Wins at Home to Take 1-0 Lead in R1 | The Trois-Rivieres Saints faced a tough opponent in Kelowna Heat pitcher Rafael Chavez, but did just enough to pull out a win in Game 1 of the CBL League Championship, which they now lead 1-0. The Saints won 4-2 at Blue Wings Ballpark, despite the Heat getting a strong start from left-hander Chavez, who went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run.
Nate Tessier, who is rated as the 43rd best prospect by BNN, chipped in for Trois-Rivieres with a solo home run in the bottom of the seventh. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"There was a kid in the stands with a sign that said 'Trois-Rivieres Saints (probably) 2038 CBL League Championship Champions'," Tessier told reporters after the game. "I told him, 'Premature, but I like the confidence.'"
Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow at Blue Wings Ballpark. Slated to start are Hugo Campbell for the Kelowna Heat and Josh Sanford for the the Trois-Rivieres Saints.
