| Almost There: Carl Albert On Cusp of R1 Triumph After 6-5 Win | Riding the 3-hit performance of catcher John Costain, the Carl Albert Titans got a road win against the Kearny High Cardinals, 6-5, in Game 4 of the League Championship Series today. Costain was 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times for the Titans, who now lead the best-of-7 series, 3 games to 1.
The game hit a turning point in the top of the third inning, when the Titans were trailing 3-1. Bill Humphries delivered a two-out grand slam home run for Carl Albert, catapulting his team into the lead.
In comments to the Carl Albert Times, Humphries admitted that he doesn't always push himself. "But the results," he said, "speak for themselves."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Loggers Ballpark. Slated to start are Justin Rieker for the Carl Albert Titans and Jimmy Ward for the the Kearny High Cardinals.
