| Beavers Edge Past Rhinos, 6-5 | In a tight contest at Waterfront Park, the Portland Beavers edged the Rubber City Rhinos by the score of 6-5. Portland shortstop Cesar Sandino, who blasted 1 home run, was named the player of the game. The Beavers bumped their record to 56-33 with this latest triumph.
Sandino had a game-changing single in the bottom of the ninth. On a 2-2 cutter from Rudy Cortez, he banged a run-scoring single to left, giving the Beavers a 6-5 lead. It was the 61st hit of the year for Sandino.
"It's great when the crowd gets into it," Sandino said.
