| Diamonds Prevail, 3-2, Over Scottsdale | Scottsdale Stadium was the site of the home opener for the Scottsdale Scorpions. The contest featured a prime matchup between Piet Bruins of the visiting Tunica Diamonds and Carlos Sanchez of the Scorpions. The final score was 3-2, the Diamonds getting the win. Earning player of the game honors was Carlos Sanchez. Piet Bruins earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 2 earned runs on 9 hits, with 3 walks and 9 strikeouts. Andres Castaneda closed it out for his 1st save.
The Diamonds got a big at-bat from second baseman Antonio Duran. For the game, Duran was 1 for 4 with a double, while adding 2 RBI. In the top of the sixth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run double. His 1st double of the season gave Tunica a 3-1 lead.
