| Watkins Slugs Patriots to 10-4 Win | Getting a good performance from left fielder Gilbert Watkins, the George Washington Patriots defeated the Canby Lancers, 10-4. Watkins was 2-5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Patriots. George Washington improves to 44-22 with the win. They lead their division by 9 games.
Watkins contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for George Washington in the top of the fifth. With his team trailing 3-2, Watkins took a curveball from Dennis Mennie and stroked the home run to left. His 14th home run of the season allowed the Patriots to leap in front, 5-3.
