Monroy Stars for Mustangs in 11-4 Win

Downsview played host to Billings West at the friendly confines of Visigoths Stadium.

With second baseman Manny Monroy leading the charge, the Downsview Mustangs defeated the Billings West Golden Bears, 11-4, at Visigoths Stadium. Monroy, who is tied for 10th in the PRL in triples with 2, went 3 for 5 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Alan Weston, credited with the win, is now 5-3. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits in 5 innings.

The Mustangs got a big at-bat from shortstop Nate Duval. For the game, Duval went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run single. His 14th hit of the season gave Downsview a 6-4 lead.

"I just try to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Monroy.

The 4th-place Mustangs improved to 27-38.
