| Beavers Come Back Late, Nip Hops | The Beavers had to overcome a good performance from San Diego pitcher Landy Lu to claim a 5-4 win at Waterfront Park. Lu went 8 innings and allowed 3 earned runs. Portland reliever Olivier Martin picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Jimmy Shumaker took the loss. The Beavers bumped their record to 54-33 with this latest triumph.
Jeffrey O'Connor was the walk-off hero for Portland. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Beavers third baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"We fed off the energy of the crowd at the end," O'Connor said.
