| Hops Edge Past Republic, 4-3 | There was no shortage of dramatics at The Brew Stade today.
The San Diego Hops defeated the So Cal Republic, 4-3, in Roberto Clemente League action at The Brew Stade, with San Diego pitcher Landy Lu named player of the game. San Diego reliever Jimmy Shumaker picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ben Jeffcoat absorbed the loss.
Ryan Lewry chipped in for San Diego with a solo home run in the bottom of the tenth. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"Exhilarating win," said Lewry.
Losses have been few and far between for the Republic so far this season. Their record drops to 6-3.
