Golden Bears Turn Back Tioga Central, 8-6

The inspired effort of Tioga Central catcher Ross Widenhofer was not enough to prevent a 8-6 loss to the Billings West Golden Bears. Widenhofer was 3 for 3 with a home run, 2 singles, and was hit by a pitch, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. Jeremiah Anthony got credit for the win, improving to 4-4. He allowed 5 runs on 6 hits in 6 innings. Greg Rose converted his 15th save in 18 tries.

Ozzie Smith Jr., who is rated as the 2nd best prospect by BNN, aided the Billings West cause with a 2-run single in the top of the fourth. For the game, the right fielder went 2-4 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3.

"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Smith Jr.. "And not try to do too much."
