Cardinals Rough Up Vampires, Take 18-3 Win

The Montreal Cardinals downed the Santa Clara Vampires, 18-3, at Nezahualcoyotl HS Grounds. The Cardinals were led by Jay Rushton, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5. Montreal reliever Rich Palagyi was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Ruggiero Ferrero took the loss. Dan Mason converted his 2nd save in 2 tries.

Rushton had a key at-bat for Montreal early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season and gave Montreal an early 3-0 lead.
