| Poly Bang Out 6-3 Win Versus Jefferson | Riverside Poly starter Ryan Turner was in a groove as he led his team to a win over the Jefferson Indians, 6-3. Turner, the winner, moves to 5-2. He threw 5.2 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 8 and giving up 4 walks. Matt Poling converted his 14th save in 15 tries.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the seventh inning when the Poly sent teenager Tim Squarebriggs to the plate against Indians hurler Heath Walker. With a runner on 2nd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 1-1 fastball to score 1.
"Win or lose, we always try to grind it out and stay even-keeled," Turner said in reaction to the win.
The Poly move to 27-28 with the win, while the Indians drop to 24-31.
