| Lions Solve Vampires, 6-3 | The Lerna Lions topped the Santa Clara Vampires, 6-3, in Pete Rose League action at Ballpark of Ecatepec HS. The player of the game was Lerna pitcher and Iroquois Falls, Canada native Ken Harper. Harper picked up the win for Lerna, going 7 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 3-4. The third-place Lions now have a 5-game winning streak.
Alfredo Zapata drew 1 walk in 5 trips to the plate for Lerna. The 15-year old first baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the second. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 1-1 tie with a run-scoring walk off David Howard. It was his 39th walk of the season.
"Enjoyed this one," Zapata told the Lerna Daily News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
