| Indians Nip Cardinals, 6-5 | The Jefferson Indians grabbed a 6-5 win over the Kearny High Cardinals at Ballpark of Monterrey HS. Jefferson shortstop Kevin Mosier was 1-4 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once to earn player of the game honors. Picking up the save was Joe Pennington, his 9th. With the win, Jefferson goes to 23-29, while the Cardinals fall to 32-20.
Had Sam Pavlik not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Pavlik hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 6-5, in favor of the Indians.
"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said Jefferson manager Kris Frederick.
