| Hornets Turn Back Midland, 7-6 | Eureka third baseman Ron Gale played a vital role in his team's 7-6 triumph over Midland. He went 1 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2 for Eureka. The win boosts the Hornets to 44-38. The loss puts the Rockhounds at 40-43.
The Hornets got a big at-bat from catcher Peter Southern. For the game, Southern went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fifth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 12th home run of the season gave Eureka a 6-4 lead.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Gale said.
