| Golden Bears Lose, 5-4, at Osprey Ballpark | The George Washington Patriots topped the Billings West Golden Bears, 5-4, in Pete Rose League action at Osprey Ballpark. The player of the game was George Washington pitcher Jim Joseph. Joseph got the win, improving to 3-3. He allowed 7 hits and walked 3 over 8 innings. Joseph allowed 4 earned runs. Ichiro Matheny picked up the save, his 14th.
Had Juan Arvizo not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Arvizo hit a 3-run home run. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Patriots.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Joseph told the George Washington Chronicle.
The Patriots bumped their record to 34-14 with this latest triumph.
