| Mustangs Come Back Late, Nip Lancers | The Downsview Mustangs did just enough to secure a 7-6 victory over the Canby Lancers at Ballpark of Villahermosa HS. Nobody did more than shortstop Rich Basler, who captured player of the game honors. Downsview, now 23-25, holds 4th place in the Pete Rose League Alex Rodriguez Division.
Basler had a game-changing single in the top of the eighth. On a 2-2 curveball from Curtis Breshears, he banged a 2-run single to left, giving the Mustangs a 7-6 lead. It was the 24th hit of the year for Basler.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Basler, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
