Paradise Island Bats Silenced by de la Cruz
Monday, July 24th, 2034
Tony de la Cruz hurled a fine game for the Wichita Storm at The Storm Center today, holding the Paradise Island Pirates to 2 hits in a shutout win.
"When he started out, his command wasn't that good, but he's a tough guy," Wichita manager Cliff Moon said. "The more pitches he throws, the better his command is."
The right-hander had 9 strikeouts and no walks in the 8-0 victory.
"An outstanding job," Paradise Island manager Julián Flores said. "We couldn't get anything going. Every time we got a hit, he got out of the jam. He pitched a terrific game."
To date this year de la Cruz has won 5 and lost 1 with a 4.04 ERA, no saves and 29 strikeouts in no relief appearances.
