Golding Records Shutout Against Totems
Tuesday, July 18th, 2034
It wasn't easy but the Yuma Varmits made it look that way.
Starter Pete Golding shut out the Victoria Totems despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Yuma Varmits cruised to victory, 12-0. Golding allowed only 9 hits and rang up 6 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
Currently Golding has 3 saves. In 7 relief appearances he has hurled 18 innings, struck out 19 and issued 5 walks with a 2-0 record. The Yuma reliever has recorded a 1.00 ERA and allowed the opposition to hit .242 when he is on the mound.
