Pan Takes Charge, Blanks Scottsdale
Saturday, March 19th, 2033
Yen-nien Pan shut out the Scottsdale Scorpions 10-0 on a 9-hit masterpiece for the Augusta Rail Riders at Murderer's Row today.
"He was kind of teasing them with his off-speed stuff, and his fastball was moving everywhere," Augusta skipper Ralph Oakes said afterward.
Pan registered 9 strikeouts and issued no walks in pitching a gem.
"We just didn't swing the bats very well. Or else he just pitched good, whichever way you want to look at it," said Scottsdale manager Marcel Devaux after the defeat.
This year Pan has a 7-5 mark in 15 starts with a 4.08 ERA. He has given up 102 hits in 108 innings, struck out 133 and issued 16 walks. Opposing clubs have compiled a .242 batting average against him.
