Cruz Clips Rangers for Cycle

It was a special day for Cruz Cruz at Brewbaker Memorial Stadium -- the Framingham Fighting Camels second baseman hit for the cycle, getting every type of hit possible.

The 20-year-old Cruz racked up 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run to get his name in the history books. It was all for naught, however, as the Fighting Camels didn't win the ballgame, dropping the decision to the Rockville Rangers, 9-6.

"He hit everything we threw," said Rockville manager Chris Sexton. "There was just no getting him out today."

For the game, he was 4-for-5 with 2 runs batted in and 2 runs scored.

"I'm glad for Cruz," Framingham manager Kiyomori Shimizu said. "It's a once-in-a-lifetime thing and a nice feather in his cap. Would've been better if we could have won the game for him, too."

Speaking to the press after the game, Cruz said the key for his record-setting day was "just getting some good pitches to hit."

Cruz Cruz doubled in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Kanichi Kaneshiro in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI triple in the 6th and struck out in the 8th.
