Lumber Loses Cortez for Year Tuesday, February 22nd, 2033 Lumber reliever Wil Cortez could miss the remainder of the season because of a torn labrum. He exited yesterday's Normal game after injuring himself while throwing a pitch. The original diagnosis said Cortez would be out 11 months. Later on his doctors said he could be out even longer. "He's done," his manager commented at the BNN press conference. "It's a season-ending injury, but it could have been worse. It's not the worst-case scenario, so we're happy about that." This season he has made 5 relief appearances, collecting no saves. Cortez has worked 14 innings, yielding 12 hits and giving out 4 free passes while striking out 11.
