Injury Sidelines Richard Ortiz for Season
Friday, January 28th, 2033
The doctors have spoken and Richard Ortiz of the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas didn't like what he heard. The 21-year-old reliever is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Ortiz sustained his season-ending injury during the Brooklyn Cyclones game yesterday at Vin Scully Park. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Boca Raton medical staff reported Ortiz had a fractured elbow and would be absent from the lineup for at least 6-7 months.
This year Ortiz has collected no saves in no relief appearances. He has also compiled a 1-1 won-lost mark with a 3.21 ERA and fanned 22 batters in 28 innings. Opponents are hitting him at a .276 clip in 2033.
