Friday, April 30th, 2032
He's only 20 years old, but Eddy Johnston of the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas has clearly established himself as a star of WINTER ROOKIE LEAGUE.
His status grew today as the ace pitcher was named the winner of the 2032 Prince Fielder League Most Valuable Player Award.
"I just want to pitch well and win games," he said. "The awards are nice though."
Johnston's award-winning season saw him put up a 9-0 record through 15 starts, throwing 96 innings. He had 115 strikeouts with 27 walks and a 1.31 ERA. Opponents hit only .210 against him during the season.
Jose Rodriguez of the Santa Barbara Suenos finished second in voting, while Sylvester Norwood of the Boca Raton Fighting Iguanas finished third.
